About Susan Overhauser, Ph.D.

Susan Overhauser is a licensed clinical psychologist based in El Sobrante, California, specializing in treating trauma and attachment across all age groups. She received her PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1993. Her therapeutic approach integrates modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), psychodynamic therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and sensorimotor psychotherapy. Dr. Overhauser is committed to providing culturally sensitive and gender-inclusive therapy, honoring the spirituality and individuality of each client. 

Through her clinical work, teaching, and international lectures, Dr. Overhauser exemplifies a holistic approach to psychology that honors the interconnectedness of body, soul, and spirit. Her efforts continue to enrich the field of Anthroposophic psychology, fostering a deeper understanding of human development and healing.

She serves as a core faculty member for the Association for Anthroposophic Psychology (AAP), contributing to the development and teaching of Anthroposophic Psychotherapy Certification Programs. These programs aim to integrate spiritual science with contemporary psychological practices, offering a holistic understanding of human development and mental health. 

Dr. Overhauser’s dedication to Anthroposophy extends to her international engagements. She has taught in various settings, including universities, Waldorf teacher training programs, Waldorf schools, public schools, and international Anthroposophic psychotherapy programs. Her contributions to international psychotherapy conferences reflect her commitment to advancing the integration of Anthroposophic principles in psychological practice.
